Mikkel Bang
Mikkel Bang
Prodigy gone backcountry, Mikkel Bang has matured from a pre-teen contest killer to a filming freestyler on natural terrain.
Unthinkable for most barely-21-year olds, but Mikkel had all the experience he needed to get there, having already stockpiled the victories, the coverage and the video parts of a seasoned pro before he turned 14. Standard Films segments, a Junior Jam pipe win at the European Open, Transworld cover shots and a win at the 2006 Air and Style Rookie Challenge with a second at the main event in 2007 solidified his status.

A Norwegian native, Bang has grown up plenty since then, getting extra credit with his standout video part in Burton’s It’s Always Snowing Somewhere and the opener of Transworld’s In Color. Not to mention learning switch backside 12’s, winning X Games medals and Dew Tour overall titles—all before earning his high school diploma in 2009. Without a need to play hooky any longer, Bang has taken snowboarding by storm ever since. He’s nabbed Burton European Open Slopestyle, X Games Big Air and Arctic Challenge podiums and a decisive win at the Burton US Open Slopestyle. These days Mikkel has been squeezing in more time to sled and film. With the majority of last winter spent shacked up in British Columbia, Mikkel put together impressive hammers for Burton’s newest movie, 13 and already earned the first cover shot for Snowboarder Mag’s 2012 season.
